Plundering Identity
Meet Gabriela Wiener in conversation with author Marjam Idriss about navigating the world and exploring life through literature.
Peruvian Gabriela Wiener's literary project that is her novel Huaco Portrait (translated to Norwegian from Spanish) is a decolonisation of everything: history, family, love, sex, the body and even language and literature.
The novel begins with the author visiting an ethnographic museum in Paris, and seeing herself in the indigenous face of the exhibition. However, she is also the great-great-granddaughter of Charles Wiener, who stole these artefacts and brought them to Europe and after whom the exhibition is named. Everything in her life is characterised by this family legacy. Meet Gabriela Wiener in conversation with author Marjam Idriss about navigating the world and exploring life through literature.
The conversation is in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English.
